Desktop shows the cover wide (≈820×312); mobile shows a taller centre slice (≈640×360 of the same image). Anything near the far left and right edges disappears on phones — where most of your audience is.
The centre-safe rule
Keep faces, logos and text in the central area of the cover and let the outer edges be background. Sized and framed that way, the cover survives both crops intact.
Sharpness and size
