The lookalike trap
Cyrillic shares shapes with Latin — А, В, Е, К, М, Н, О, Р, С, Т — but they are different letters with different sounds. An engine set to English "recognizes" Russian text as Latin gibberish. Selecting Russian reads the alphabet correctly, including ы, ъ, ё and я.
